About Us
Maison Katshiabala is a luxury fashion house created for women who refuse to blend in.
Rooted in faith, individuality, and intentional self-expression, the brand exists for the woman who once felt too bold, too expressive, or too different—only to realize those very things were her God-given gift. She was never meant to shrink herself. She was meant to shine, be seen, and walk confidently in who God created her to be.
Inspired by Congolese refinement, timeless femininity, and elevated craftsmanship, every design is created to feel intentional, unforgettable, and deeply personal. Our slogan, “Unforgettable Pieces for Unforgettable Moments,” reflects our belief that fashion should leave a lasting impression long after a woman leaves the room. As a bespoke made-to-order fashion house, every piece is thoughtfully crafted and made-to-measure, valuing craftsmanship, exclusivity, and quality over mass production.
Maison Katshiabala is not for everyone—and that is intentional.
This brand is for the discerning woman with a curated eye. The woman who dresses with confidence, presence, and purpose. This is more than clothing. This is confidence worn boldly. This is individuality without apology. This is luxury with purpose.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” —Matthew 5:14
Meet the founder
Maison Katshiabala was born from a desire to reclaim power, identity, and purpose.
For founder Nyota Munga, fashion was never simply about clothing—it was about survival, self-expression, and reclaiming control in a life where so much felt out of her hands. Growing up with sickle cell anemia meant constantly navigating limitations, uncertainty, and environments where her body often made decisions for her before she could. Choosing fashion design became her way of boldly deciding something for herself.
While many viewed fashion as “just a hobby,” Nyota chose to pursue it as her calling. Through styling herself and creating garments, she found freedom. Fashion became the language she used to express the parts of herself words could never fully capture. It allowed her to take up space unapologetically and transform what she once saw as an obstacle into confidence, beauty, and identity.
Deeply inspired by La Sape — the Congolese subculture rooted in elegance, refinement, dignity, and self-respect through dress — Nyota developed a profound understanding of how fashion can carry meaning far beyond appearance. In Congolese culture, presentation is not vanity; it is pride, artistry, resistance, and storytelling. That influence continues to shape the soul of Maison Katshiabala today.
But the story of the brand reaches even deeper than inspiration—it is legacy.
Named after her late grandmother, Maison Katshiabala carries on a gift that seemed destined to live through Nyota. Her grandmother once dreamed of passing her sewing skills down to her own daughter, Nyota’s mother. Instead, that gift naturally found its way to Nyota. From a young age, sewing teachers would be amazed by how instinctively she understood construction and technique. What others saw as talent, Nyota now recognizes as inheritance.
Today, every piece created under Maison Katshiabala reflects resilience, heritage, femininity, faith, and intentional craftsmanship. What began as a young woman searching for control became a vision for a globally recognized fashion house rooted in purpose and storytelling.
